Mission Statement

A volunteer organization of American and international women offering cultural, educational and social activities for members, while promoting interest and participation in social welfare of Indonesia.

The American Women’s Association of Indonesia welcomes expatriate women of all nationalities to join our organization and share interesting and enjoyable experiences with fellow members. We offer opportunities for newcomers and established members to get involved in the Association and in Jakarta. Our AWA Center hosts a variety of speakers, classes and events and is the perfect place to network, foster friendships and cultivate awareness of our local community. Additional off-site experiences are made available to members as we try new restaurants, work on our shopping skills, share special interests, and explore cultural enterprises in and around Jakarta.

Specific information about the AWA activities and events can be found on the AWA website, the AWA Facebook and the AWA Instagram. In addition, members receive an electronic newsletter and have access to our AWA WhatsApp Chat Groups.

Social Welfare

Social responsibility at the AWA means offering service to our local community. The need is great and we have many outlets for giving. AWA members play games and make crafts at orphanages; compile activity bags for children recuperating in the hospital; donate food, clothing and household items to charities and to flood victims; and contribute to the education of needy high school and university students.

AWA Publications

Publications written by members of the American Women’s Association are an indispensable addition to every expat’s library. Our flagship publication, the Jakarta Shopper’s Guide provides much-needed information for both new and established members. Introducing Indonesia: A Guide to Expatriate Living, Indonesian Words and Phrases, and A Jakarta Market (bilingual) are essentials for newcomers to Indonesia. For foodies from all corners of the world we offer It’s a Small World: International Holidays and Celebrations Cookbook and Foods Galore (bilingual). All publications are available for purchase by the general public through the AWA Center.

Proceeds from the sale of AWA publications benefit the AWA and its charities.

We invite and encourage additional inquiries about the American Women's Association.

We are conveniently located in the Kebayoran Baru area of Jakarta.
